CREATIVITY.
INTUITION.
EMPATHY.

(and more...)

Highly sensitive people (HSPs) think and feel very deeply. They process information faster and more thoroughly than average. This fosters a paradoxcial way of being: enhanced intelligence, memory, empathy, creativity, intuition, unusual sensory experience and potent insight - yet persistent self-doubt, anxiety and overhwhlem. This is because HSPs are fluid in their boundaries, feeling interconnected with others and the world around them - in an embodied, even tangible way. As such, they have a heightened awareness of social and psychological dynamics - local and collective.

This 'processing style' coupled with a cautious nature, lends itself to acute sensing, predicting and influencing.  Historically, they would be the natural sages, healers and shamans of a community. Today they may be sitting at a desk, quietly self-criticising and burning out, from a lack of deep purpose.

The tide is changing... are you ready?

The 20%?

1 in 5 people (20%) are 'highly sensitive'. They are born this way, it is an innate 'trait' and is not something to be fixed. It is not a disorder, it is a set of deep-seated characteristics that have been grouped by researchers to form the 'trait' of high sensitivity. Specialist researchers believe that it has emerged as an evolutionary advantage within social species - and is found across many diverse species and is equally present among genders too.

The trait comes with some personal challenges yet also with some seriously overlooked (until now!) advantages. It can be paradoxical.

For example, this 20% of the population also make up more than 50% of all those seeking seeking therapy for low self-esteem, overwhelm, anxiety and burnout... yet that same quota of people have a suite of (typically hidden) talents. Uncovering these talents can resolve the challenges and add sincere value to all. The key word is purpose.

So the implications for the workplace, healthcare and education are enormous - both challenges and advantages...

At Kirsty Allan Consultancy, we are quite different from other HSP providers as although we work to resolve the challenges (where need be) we do so, as a foundational part of our distinct focus on cultivating and leveraging the strengths. This is because we ARE the 20% and understand how to do this very effectively.

"Kirsty’s depth and versatility of experience makes working with her insightful and really fun. She creates a supportive space and has a knack of being able to connect many perspectives and potentials in the ‘big picture’, which for creatives can be a headache when we’re too close to our work. That gift of clarity is a significant one for people working in a career based in self expression, and I’d highly recommend Kirsty."

"I've known and worked with Kirsty for many years. She's built successful creative businesses, inspired cultural change at a national level, promoted transformational well-being, mentored, published... and all while living a rich life, centred on compassion, inquiry, purpose and holding on to a light heart. For my part, I’ve gained insights into motivation and creative courage for business and team building. And Kirsty’s grounding in practical change can involve extraordinary reframing of perspective."
